Hi, my name is Chuan! (Pronounced choo-ahn or joo-ahn)
I am a New Jersey/New York based multidisciplinary artist with a BFA in Visual Arts from Rutgers University. Through a variety of art disciplines that ranges from 2D, to 3D, to 4D, my work primarily deals with narratives of family, culture, and my identity as a first-generation Korean-Japanese immigrant living in America. By retelling stories of personal experiences, I hope to connect to a wider audience and provide a chance to reflect on their own life experiences. Although printmaking is my primary medium, I’m exploring new ways to take the medium away from the paper.
Outside of the studio I can be found either playing games on my Nintendo Switch, cafe hopping with friends, or sipping on my favorite Korean banana-flavored milk. (Despite being lactose intolerant.)
Let’s connect!
